With the development of the computer and the introduction of the internet, the communication way of the people has changed from a traditional way to virtual community or the virtual communication. This indeed affects to the structure of the real life community.
There are some positive impacts that influence the real life community. First of the positive impact is social circle can be expand. For an example, students might meet their lecturer and friends only in real life. But they can meet different kinds of people such as different kind of workers at different state or even more different country at the cyber world. They can communicate to each others that do not know in reality through cyber communication which may expand their social circle from a limited state to different state or even to global.
Next, virtual communication would help those users who are less confident on communication in the real life. This is the platform to them to practice the way of communication and let them have a chances here to build up their confidence while communicate with others. This is because by using the social networking sites of Internet might let the unconfident user trying to built up their community in the visual world as they just need to type to express their feeling and chat with others by using words. They no need to have a face-to-face communication to the others and also not to bother on the pronunciation during the communication. Well, an example is that nowadays, most of the teenagers are spend their time on playing online games. This make them feel shy and unconfident to express their feeling to others in reality because they fail to have a face-to-face communication. But while they are using Internet to communicate in the virtual world, their characteristic may be change and become more active compare with in the real world. Because of this reasons, it may give them feel safeness which do not make them feel nervous while talking to others in the virtual world. So, through cyber communication it can help those unconfident user to build up their confidence while communicate with people where as in the virtual world or reality.
Third, the expenses between cyber communication and sending message, cyber communication is cheaper. For an example, couples are willing choose cyber communication than sending message to chat with each other because at online not only free but also can open web camera to see each other’s face. If use sending message, will waste amore money compare with cyber communication. Moreover, cyber communication is faster than send message which can save the typing and sending message’s time. For an example, students who are discussing assignment will chose cyber communication because it can save a lot of time. They can open Messenger to chat at the same time while doing assignments by computer.
Everything has own pros and cons. For cyber communication, not only good impact but also bring bad impact to our society. First, through cyber communication will make teenager lack of reality’s communication skill. Because nowadays, teenager choose cyber communication rather than reality communicate with others. This has made them rely on it and they will lazy to learn the skill in reality in order to maintain relationship with other people in the reality. When they come to society, it will bring bad effect to them because they do not know the skill to communicate with their boss either colleague which not just affects their career but also their entire life. They can’t depend on cyber communication for whole life instead of reality communication.
Other than that, cyber communication has decreased the level of grammar. Nowadays, teenager use short form or other symbol to represent real word, such as “lol”, “cuz”, “gd9” and others. Not only use in cyber communication but also send message. This habit may brought into while writing paragraph which has decrease the level of grammar and increase a lot of grammar mistake. Although this short form is interesting but in proper English it means mistake. If teenager use it while writing proposal or formal letter, would they expect that everyone will understand what they were writing?
As a conclusion, we must appreciate the greatness of the convenience that brought by the technology development but not misused that, or else we will get into trouble for our own self.
